- Our company Secmotic, a leading company in innovative technological solutions, has announced its incorporation into the European project Nephele, an initiative by the Horizon Europe programme under the topic “Future European platforms for the Edge: Meta Operating Systems”.
- As part of this collaboration, Secmotic will develop an advanced system for preventing pedestrian accidents in industrial loading docks.
Safety in loading and unloading docks remains a critical challenge in the industry. Pedestrian accidents in these areas pose a significant risk due to the presence of workers, heavy vehicles, and limited visibility conditions.
Thanks to its participation in Nephele, Secmotic will design and develop a solution that employs computer vision, IoT, and edge computing to detect pedestrian presence and project real-time visual alerts, significantly reducing the likelihood of accidents.
How Secmotic’s solution works
Secmotic’s system is based on a network of smart cameras connected to an edge computing platform, which analyzes movements in loading docks in real-time.
If the system detects a worker in a risk zone, it immediately activates a ground alert projection system, warning vehicle workers.
This technology, integrated into the Nephele ecosystem, enables an instant and effective response to risk situations.
Benefits of the system for the industry
- Increased safety for workers: Reduces the risk of pedestrian accidents in loading and unloading areas.
- Efficient safety management: Automates the risk detection process.
- Integration with IoT platforms: Adaptable and scalable in different industrial environments.
- Resource optimization: Less reliance on manual safety measures and improved accident prevention.
Commitment to innovation and safety
Secmotic’s project manager, Ignacio Benítez, highlights the importance of this solution: “The integration of artificial intelligence and IoT technologies in workplace safety is key to the digital transformation of the industry. Thanks to Nephele, we have developed a tool that not only enhances safety in loading docks but also optimizes risk prevention processes.”
Next steps and future of the project
The system developed by Secmotic will be implemented and evaluated in real environments, with testing in various industrial sectors.
Additionally, work is being done to scale the solution, allowing its adaptation to other industrial risk areas.
With this advancement, Secmotic reaffirms its commitment to innovation and workplace safety, contributing to industry digitalization through advanced technological solutions.
