The concept

Secmotic will participate in the AgrarIA project alongside 24 entities, including large companies, SMEs, and research centers.

This project is funded through the R&D Missions Program in Artificial Intelligence of the State Secretariat for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation (File No. MIA.2021.M01.0004), corresponding to the funds from the Recovery, Resilience, and Transformation Plan.

What is the goal of AgrarIA ?

This ambitious project starts with the goal of investigating the feasibility of Artificial Intelligence along with other Industry 4.0-related technologies in real solutions to define new methods of agricultural production that will subsequently influence the future of the Spanish agri-food sector to be more technological, innovative, sustainable, and committed to energy efficiency and the reduction of carbon footprint.

How does it work?

AgrarIA focuses on two strategic lines for the future development of the sector:

• Research in the entire value chain of agricultural production through Artificial Intelligence-governed systems with goals of drastic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2), sustainability, energy efficiency, and improvement of productivity and competitiveness.
• Research in the application of the use of different technologies and artificial intelligence in the most efficient way and with a carbon-neutral footprint.

This project also includes the development of an AgrarIA platform where all the necessary components in the agricultural value chain – production, transformation, and distribution – can be integrated into a single entity in a standardized manner. This allows defining process flows that are integrated with the necessary AI technologies for their development, as well as other digital enabling technologies to deploy unique initiatives or specific use cases.

What objectives does this solution fulfill?

With these objectives, AgrarIA will have a modular and integrated architecture with solutions already developed and tested that have their own roadmap to evolve and compete in their respective markets.

On the other hand, thanks to modeling the solution as a platform, the specific needs of production processes can be accommodated in the most efficient and secure way, taking advantage of existing synergies and interacting with external elements. This allows modeling initiatives with varying complexity with different partners and end-users.
